Say Mr. Jim how do things look now that they opened the Morganza spillway? Here's hoping that Bayou Teche behaves herself and stays below the top of the levees there in New Iberia. Be praying for y'all.

Perhaps the Teche will not flood the city, but a lot of people are going to be hurt east and northeast of Iberia Parish.

Best,

I hope this is not too ignorant, but what is/are the best organization(s) one can donate to for helping folks displaced in Lousiana, Mississippi, Arkansas? I felt somewhat ambivalent about the RC after Katrina. Are there any local churches or other groups right in touch with the people?

In New Iberia, The Southern Mutual Help Organization ....their funds go directly to helping the people of small towns and rural areas.

HI Pamala

I found their mailing address
Southern Mutual
Help Association, Inc.
3602 Old Jeanerette Rd.
New Iberia, LA 70563

And you can donate right from the website
http://www.southernmutualhelp.org/SMHAStaff.cfm

In my neck of the woods, it's unseasonably cold ... I've counted 14 snow-free days since 01Jan ... but wearing an extra sweater is nothing compared with the misery and pain of folks in that area. Thanks for the opportunity to help out.

Regards!!
