Simon and Schuster has just nominated FEAST DAY OF FOOLS for the National Book Award. Jim feels very honored by the compliment. The award is announced in November.

Is this his newest? The local-yokel library here is pretty slow on the uptake, meaning they don't get new books by well- or critically-known writers until the book is pretty much not new any longer.

I don't want to know if anyone I really like--Dave, Clete, or Helen--dies.

You know anything about the evolution of Helen from a "potato-sack-shaped" lesbian to an attractive, somewhat muscular bisexual with a gift for cool gab?

JLB is the best dialogueist, if there is such a word, ever.

HI notathumpa

As far as I know, Feast Day of Fools will be 'starring' Hackberry Holland ... so, in order to get ready for the newest JLB treat, I'm re-reading Lay Down My Sword and Shield where we met a young Hack ... then Rain Gods, released a couple years ago.

LDMS&S is my favourite of all Jim's novels ... can't wait for the September release of Feast!!

Regards!!

Suddenly, I realized it's June and I hadn't checked for the latest book. I'm so happy to see another one coming soon. I love the title, as always. I love Holland, too. Can't wait. National Book Award! How cool! That makes me happy, and full of anticipation.

Cant wait for this one to come out. I had never listened to a JLB book until Rain Gods came out a couple years ago and I immidiately fell in love with his story telling. I have since listened to all of JLB's books with Dave, Billy Bob and Hack. Rain Gods still remains my favorite. When I saw that "Preacher" Jack Collins makes a return in Feast Day I really got excited. Never in any book have a liked a bad guy so much.
