to do a Burke book who would it be? Can be past or present. I think John Huston might have done a good job.

I was just thinking about this the other day.

The Cohen Brothers come to mind, right off the bat. Their adaptations of "No Country for Old Men" and "True Grit" were amazing. I've no doubt they'd capture the Robicheaux saga exquisitely.

Edward Zwick has shown his proficiency with textured storytelling and sweeping epics. (Glory, Legends of the Fall, The Last Samurai)

Frank Darabont does wonders with adaptations. Brilliant writer/director. (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Majestic)

David Fincher has a visceral feel to his movies. (Se7en, The Game, Panic Room, Fight Club)

Any crime thriller/drama in the hands of Clint Eastwood is a sure thing. (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Mystic) I'm actually surprised he hasn't already opted to do one of the Robicheaux books.

These are my top picks.

Sorry, I was half asleep when I posted that last night. Mr. Eastwood's post should have of course said "Mystic River", not The Mystic. I suffer from SBS, Sleepy Brain Syndrome, regularly.

Yes, I have liked the Coen brothers since Raising Arizona, not their first, but the first I saw. Zwick has doen some very good work, Darabont also, though I have to agree on Eastwood who has done some very good to great films and just gets better all the time..

Fincher too, though I tend to think of him as more urban.

Coen Bros hands down. Or how about Clint Eastwood?

Yes, I have mentioned before I think Eastwood would be good.

Saw Trouble with the Curve, very nice little film. Eastwood is turning in to a great character actor.

Clint Eastwood is still a great character actor, and director as well. He needs to stick to film projects, though, and get out of the political arena. For that, he sucks.
